Happy Halloween dear reader! I don’t have anything exciting and Halloween themed for you to enjoy this week so you’ll just have to make do with me being all ranty and angry like I usually am. If it helps you can imagine me doing so while dressed in a silly costume. I for one think I would make a rather fetching FemShep.

Nemesis: Major Haley. 6 Part 2 – Time Shift Ain’t No Thing

This week on Nemesis, we’re laying a trap. We’ve always been able to set up traps for collosals, but against Haley2 she will trivialise and de-tooth your counterattack. And there isn’t much you can do about it. Butcher3 is an exception. He should get to move 6” in his maintenance phase independent of activations. Even crossing a wreck, you’ll get to where you want to go. Today we are talking about the math, and our assumptions about how the matchup will play out, and where we can expect the pieces to be in relation to each other.

What I Learned on the Forums This Week 29

This weekend is Ireland’s largest gaming convention at which I have a non zero number of responsibilities. That means I was super busy this week but I still carved out time in my life to rant and rage at stupidity on the internet for your amusement. You better appreciate it…jerks! (insulting your fans is a key part of becoming famous right? right!?)

As I mentioned in the last article, I’m currently looking outside the box a bit to try and find a third list for the Irish Masters. And where I am right now is obsessing about Crabjacks. (Alternate titles for this article that were discarded include “I’ve got crabs” and “Feeling crabby”).

I should really stop leaving this little intro sentences to be the last thing that I write. Every week I tell myself I’ll write it first this time and every time I get so annoyed with whatever I’m reading that I skip the intro and go straight to the rant. That probably says something about me and while I could talk to Dr. Avian about it I think I’d rather just complain about morons on the internet. Yeah…I’m going to do that second one.

Starting Armies: Part 2 – Cryx

Welcome back to Starting Armies! It’s been months! I’d like to claim good reasons, but I’m just slow and bad. Today I’m going to talk about Cryx. This article is both a buy list and some tactical starters. But, first I should start with a disclaimer.

“This is an article aimed at two kinds of people. The first group are those who are new to the game, having played a few battle box games and dabbled in the factions. You have decided your path to glory, but the big bad world of 35 points and above is daunting. You want to get to know your faction while building your way up to the more commonly used levels of play. Excellent, you’ve made a good start. The second type of person this is aimed at are those people who are looking to move into a new faction. Phenomenal! Branching out into other factions has certainly improved my play enormously. In fact it’s not a bad idea to play the faction that you have the most trouble against and learning the game from that side.”

I returned from the WTC only to immediately catch a cold and spend a week mostly in bed. Now that I’m recovered I’m going to write a brief recap of my games from the weekend as best as I can remember them a little over a week later. I wrote this pretty quickly so apologies in advance for any errors/spelling mistakes/etc… Let’s do this!

Hacking the Cortex: The Wheel In The Sky Keeps On Turning

So the WTC is over… but today Eoin/Vagrant_Poet, our new captain (What have we done?) asked for interested parties to state their interest for playing on next year’s team. And the competition is going to be fierce. Our humble meta is growing fast, and lots of players are proving that they’ve got the chops to win tournaments. It’s still a small pond, but there’s fewer and fewer dominant fish. Anyone who wants a spot on the team is going to have to have a good year, and so the testing cycle begins anew!
