What I Learned on the Forums This Week 43

forums

Hello reader, welcome back! First things first I’ve got a little announcement. There won’t be any On the Forums next week because it’s the last week before the Irish Masters and I’ll be too busy doing all the stuff I should have done weeks ago to be reading the Forums. With that out of the way we can get to the good stuff, the rambling madness of the Forums. This week wasn’t so bad given that we got the last wave of Vengeance spoilers out of the way and I think I only displaced a few keys on my keyboard through repeated head bashing. Frankly I expected worse. Maybe this is just the calm before the storm…

What I Learned on the Forums This Week 42

forums

It’s been an exhausting couple of weeks! Some of the post Templecon stupidity appears to have died down although we’re still coasting a bit on the sheer volume that had already spewed forth. That’s not to say that everything was wonderful this week, there were spoilers so of course there were people complaining about those spoilers. Also some truly terrible tactical suggestions which feels like a new theme on the Forums at the moment. People who seem to have no idea how to play the game giving tactical advice is a little amazing to read. I actually saw a guy say that we shouldn’t ignore someone’s advice just because they were bad at the game. Anyway, without further ado let’s get started!

VagrantPoet goes to SmogCon – 1: They came from the Valleys…

Tomorrow morning at 6 (AM!) me and some of my local WarmaHorde comrades are setting off to drive, ferry, then drive across Wales and England in order to arrive at sunny (unlikely) Guildford where the coolest event in the Isles is kicking off. Possibly the coolest event in Europe, SmogCon is a convention designed to emulate the big Warmachine events in America at the likes of TempleCon, Warmachine Weekend, etc.

How do the Factions of Hordes play?

Startin Armies

Here I am, on the road again…

Read the previous two posts here to get an introduction to the game itself, and here to have a look at Warmachine Factions.

Today we are going to talk about Hordes Factions. Warmachine is more about resource management and infantry, Hordes is all about big smashy monsters and trying keep control of them when you push them to go wild on the enemy. Fury is the resource of this twin system to Warmachine, in which your warbeasts generate the resource, and your warlock takes back to use as both a defensive mechanic and to power their spells. The first rule of Hordes is always leave 2 fury on your warlock! It will keep you alive!

What I Learned on the Forums This Week 41

forums

Holy crap there was a lot of shit this week! I’ve written two articles and I still have enough content for a third! I suppose it’s nice to know that I have a steady supply of content but if next week is even half as crazy as this one I’m not sure what I’ll do. This has actually made me scared to think of what the last round of Vengeance spoilers are going to look like. When the book is finally spoiled and the Forums react in their usual manner my brain might just melt and pour out of my ears. If you don’t hear from me around then please send help…and whiskey.

Tales from the Testing Cycle: Locked and Loaded.

Cortex Banner

Last week, I declared that I had settled on my lists for the Masters. And that’s exactly what I’m going to talk about this week. In a moment of steely resolve that has only wavered a little bit in the intervening week, I settled on Lich Lord Asphyxious, Warwitch Deneghra, and Lich Lord Terminus.

It’s in the Blood #10 Pairing with Runes of War Pt. 4

We’ve reached the end of our little trip and we couldn’t end with a better warlock to talk about. This week we’ll be talking about the ‘lock who I believe is the best in all of Trollbloods. She has an amazing set of abilities and a truly ridiculous Feat. I am, of course, talking about Trollbloods very own ugly duckling: Grissel1. For the purposes of this article we will be talking about a very specific style of Grissel1 and I will be assuming you are playing that or at least something very similar. So without further delay lets get started.

The Scrutator Semper Chronicles VIII

Chapter One: The Relics of Saint Malathric

Part Eight: What Dreams May Come

In which Master Siskington receives an unexpected visit.

“Stand forth, brother.”

It was a voice that could not be ignored, well used to command and being obeyed. I stepped forward, and marvelled at what I saw. A city of towers, surrounded by a high wall, with fields spiralling from it as far as the eye could see. With another step I was within the walls. I saw the milling people, wearing clothes of ancient times. All around were the signs of prosperity and industry. A line of carts left one gate, loaded with bags of grain. There was joy here, a pleasure that focused around the huge temple in the centre of the city.

What I Learned on the Forums This Week: Templecon Special!

forums

Hello readers! This is the Templecon reaction special! As you probably already know this past weekend was Templecon the big US convention where every year PP makes a big announcement. After that announcement the internet reacts in the exact way you would expect: by acting like spoiled little shitheads and whining about all the things they didn’t get. Due to the sheer amount of Forum Rage we’ll be having two articles this week! I’d also like to give a special shout out to all the Forum dickbags who told me that I was living in denial by ignoring the obvious evidence that Cephalyx were the new Hordes faction. Suck it jerks!

The Scrutator Semper Chronicles VII

Chapter One: The Relics of Saint Malathric

Part Seven: Following the Trail

“‘Stop! Here; this is the place.’

Grand Scrutator Alphonse Severius pointed a gloved finger at a nearby copse of trees. His troops watched while the workmen they had brought with them hefted shovels, picks and other tools and went to regard the situation. After a short while, their foreman returned. The morning sun glinted off his bald head as he rubbed his jaw.

‘My lord, how far down would you say these items are buried? We may need most of the day if we have to uproot a tree or two.’

Severius waved his hands to dismiss the man. ‘Then begin now! It will take as long as it takes, no service is too great or small in the service of the Lawgiver. This is the spot, mark my words!’
