Part Six: What The Thunder Said
Battle lines had been drawn, and what had been isolated skirmishes was now all out war for the Darkfen. Unless they can push the Trollbloods and their allies out of the marsh, the Menites’ plans lie in ruins, and the city of Merwynn could be under threat. The United Kriels need to show their strength to gain allies in their constant quest for survival.
They clash in the Darkholm, the forbidding forest which clings to the Darkhills which surround Merwynn. Grand Scrutator Severius leads his men without fear, but is this a fight the Menites can win?
Stu had tipped me off beforehand that I would be facing the Miserable Meat Mountain in this game, so I did some asking around and some thinking when I was making this list. Obviously it was important that I win this one, otherwise the campaign goes to Stu. So I formulated a list that should be able to take on some multi-wound high-armour troops. Since Stu got to try out his Light Artillery last game, I decided to take along my new Deliverer Sunburst Crew, freshly painted for this very game! As an Opportunist player, my Sunburst gains Scatter Fire, which produces a second 4” AOE that deviates from the second one. POW 9 blast damage with Eye of Menoth should be handy against the Krielstone Bearers! My Vassal survived from last game, so the Avatar should be safe enough to play cat-and-mouse with the front line of Warders or whathaveyou. Yes my buttocks are clenched in fear, but I feel I can give Grissel2 a fair fight! I feel like the key thing to start the game for me will be going second and picking a nice table side with a hill to set the Sunburst on, a wall to hide Severius behind, and some forests to hamper Stu’s infinite Warders.

With Stu having won three times now, the scales are hopelessly tipped in favour of the Trollbloods. That, coupled with Stu’s return to his homeland to regenerate, means the end of the Brown Land Campaign with a resounding victory. The Menites are repelled from their advances into the Darkfen, the Great Work will not succeed. What will this mean for Scrutator Semper and his minion, the callow Master Siskington? Stay tuned!
